Advice on busy section of song

Hi guys,
I'm finally getting around to mixing a song written for a Christmas drama a few years back. Most of the vocals were sung live on stage and I finally had the chance to get the vocalists to record their parts. It's a 10 minute long piece so I'm not uploading the track in it's entirety, but I would love to get some feedback on the heaviest section of the song. I feel pretty solid on the other sections but this 2 minute section has a lot going. Just need to get some different ears to check how it's translating for first-time listeners. Thanks in advance for your help!

Im no specialist at mixing.
But the kick seems to be not coming through enough.
Have you lowcut everything(so that unneeded frequencies dont take up bassenergie on your monitors)?
Or maybe the kick itself could be replaced through one that can be heard clearer.
Good composition :-)
Have a nice weekend,
Flo

Thanks for your thoughts, tips, and encouragement CookAndStans! I will be working on this mix to carve out a part of the frequency spectrum to fit each instrument into including the kick. Hopefully I'll remember to post it so others can here the final product.

The vocals feel insufficiently epic to match everything else.

This is CCM, right? I think the usual thing is to pile on a lot more vocals - some harmonies, but also just more voices singing the melody. They're also a little dry overall (but as you put in more vox, saturation can build up unpleasantly if you overdo it now)

I would try some automation/compression of the lead vocals, they're kind of popping out right now. I think if you can get them to sit a bit better in the mix it'll sound great.

Agree, and just a little more reverb, not much. The bass drum sounds cool. It might be a problem on subs but on my monitoring it sounds really nice. Deep but nice.

It's very grand and quite beautiful. I have some thoughts, and they are meant to be constructive. Hope you don't mind. I would pull one main vocal up in the mix and allow it to lead with more prominence. Put some serious compression and a bit of long delay or a sweet reverb. That will do wonders. You might want to try a few different crash samples for the swells until you find one that works. It sounds like a casio keyboard effect or something. Also, the added accompanying melody is competing with the vocal. Personally I'd bring it back, it might even help de-disneyify the song a little. Unless you're going for that. ;)
