i need advice please!!!!
im looking into buying the SR-16. im new at recording and recently bought a 4-track cassette recorder to record my guitar and bass. now i want to look into adding drumming into my songs. how useful would a drum machine be for this? im not much of a drummer and am just looking for a way to play around with drum sounds with my songs. is the sr-16 is a good place to start off? also how exactyly would i go about recording the drum patterns from the sr-16 into my 4-track? any advice or opinions for this newbie would be greatly appreciated!
thanks,
ck

Yo CKIBIC of Rubic's puzzle:

Easy man. If you have a drum machine, you monitor it through your cans which are plugged in to your recorder.

Then, you select a drum pattern you like, start the recorder, and chime right in with the drum pattern.

Or, if you want to get more technical, you can write your own drum pattern using the SR16. I have one of those sitting in my closet. I replaced it with the Boss 770 which is ten times better than the SR16 and costs just a few dollars more. You might want to check it out before you buy the 16.

Once you get the the drums and chords down on two tracks, you'll have two more tracks to add a lead and maybe a vocal. You really don't want to bounce tracks because you'll lose control of tweaking the individual sounds.

So, 8 tracks is better; however, I started out on a 4 tracker. You'll have fun when you add a reverb box. That's all you'll need to record except you will need something to run your mix into like a DAT or a plain cassette deck. Or, your PC if you have the set up.

That's how you would do it. Good luck and Merry Christmas.
