Advice? New to the forum

I just bought a Tascam DP-02cf 8-track digital recording unit and an MXL 990 Condenser mic for recording. Any advice on how to acheive a good sound? I have heard good things about the DP-02.

I have my own pedalboard and whatnot.

Ill be more descriptive, I realized that after the post.

I have a hagstrom ultra swede, fitted with emg 81 active pickups. I will be primarily running out of a VoxAC15 combo amp for recording, I don't know which methods are better off for capturing a raw sound

Unhelpful to a point.

At the risk of seeming really unhelpful at midnight, have a read of the threads on Home recording.com because you'll find lots to whet your appetite, challenge you, and hopefully, discourage you from desiring being spoonfed. You'd be amazed how much of the answer you seek is already answered.
I hope that's not harsh sounding. But you'll get so much more by doing some digging of your own and then picking peoples' brains. There's so much on here.
