doing some beginning home recording on my laptop(1.1 usb) ,im using nuendo2, i have 1.2g, 512ram. im also using tascam us 122 interface. i debate on getting a upgrade of 512 ram or getting a card for my cpu that will allow me to upgrade to 2.0 usb(usb2.0 processes info 40 times faster than 1.1). ive already tried to get usb upgrade drivers ther not available for my cpu. my problem is when i set the us122 as my ins and outs my playback/recording starts skipping, but when i run my device settings through my cpu it runs smooth. what do u think ram upgrade or 2.0usb , and ive already tried to reserve cpu power and cut off some start up programs in my config

Turn off any virus scanner you have running...

That might help a bit. Mainly, kill all those little applets in your task bar for a start. You are way over the recommended system requirements, so I'm not sure a RAM upgrade would help you, and since it's a USB 1.0 device, a USB 2.0 card will do nothing. How many channels are you trying to run at once? Are you running any VSTs or software effects at the same time?

still no luck

applets, what task bar. im not running any VSTs or software effects. im running about 9 channels together eight instruments and one vocal. i did a test project where i ran one channel and it still skips basically whenever the us 122 is set as my input/output device. this test project was a new project with only one channel imported.
