Hi,
I'm new to Pro Tools and also bought the Tascam DM-4800 mixer.
I'm having a lot of issues trying to buss back & forth to PT from the board via firewire. I'm running PT-10 on a custom made PC. The PC came with a Rosewill PCIe 1394b Card 3 Ports Model RC-506E. Does anyone know if this card is the reason I'm having issues?
Thanks in advance for any info you can share.

Maybe I can help. I don't really understand what you mean by "issues trying to buss back & forth to PT." Can you elaborate on that?

Thanks,
Here is what I'm trying to accomplish.

Tools:
DM - 4800 w/ the IF-FW/DM mkII interface card (Slot 1) to Pro Tools 10 (PC) via fire wire.

Goal:
via slot 1 firewire, Using PT 10 as a multitrack recorder & being able to bus any DM channel to any PT track using the output assign on Ch 1 - 24 and then monitoring back through the DM Channels 25 - 48. (25 = track 1, 26 = track 2 ect...)

I've tried every combination and still can'y assign audio to to tracks. Pro tools does see the interface. I can use the play / record, FF & RW buttons but still don't see the time code on the board & can't arm the tracks for record via the board.
Can someone go through routing output, output slots & input settings for the DM and tell me what the I/O settings are supposed to be?

I'm trying to see if the firewire is messing up or if I have a problem with the board.

Trying to get Pro Tools & Tascam to communicate is a doozy :drunk:

You should try and set your I/O in setup. Sometimes you have to create paths when you have certain interfaces and also make sure your Tascam is coming up on windows audio preferences and make sure your input & output are going through your Tascam drivers.

Might not be much help. Might have to post more spec's.

I have a DM4800 into PT10 as well, although I'm using and imac, not a pc. But maybe I can help.

First, I wonder if your remote control of PT from the board is set up properly. Because you mentioned that you can't arm a track for recording on the mixer (which would have to happen in the remote layer, btw) you may not have that set up correctly. Follow the steps in this video and see if it helps. Tascam DM Mixer and Pro Tools control interfacing. - YouTube

Next, you have to make sure your I/O settings in PT are correct. In my case, using the output assign buttons, I send each channel 1-24 to its respective bus 1-24. Then using the output slot routing on the console I send those 24 busses to slot 1-1 to 1-24. Then in PT I/O input I take those slots 1-24 and assign them to PT inputs 1-24. If this seems confusing or you have no idea what I'm talkling about, understand that I read the DM manual over and over about 200 times before it started to sink in and I got help from many videos and forum posts over at the tascam forum TASCAM DM-3200 & DM-4800 - Tascam Forums

I hope this gets you started and feel free to reply with more questions and I'll try to clarify.
