Hey;

Im in need of some bass strings for an old bass that i haven't played in ages. Its a wesley 4 string.

I have been googling and can't seem to find any information that reflects my needs. I will be playing it tuned anywhere between drop c and standard, so need a set that will sound as good as possible in both.

Thanks in advance for your time and help

Jamie

If you want a more percussive attack go with flats. The difference between round-wounds and flat-wounds is significant in this respect.

But then again, you haven't mentioned what your "needs" are.

Be more explicit.

Hi thanks for your reply.

And sorry, I will be using either flatwound or groundwound strings.

I was after advice on the gauge of the strings. As I will be playing both in standard and drop c, I need something that will be ok with both. If i remember back to when I last played this bass (a couple of years ago) the strings were too loose when tuned down so sounded like crap.
Im assuming its not possible to get something thats going to sound amazing in both, just something thats in the middle so will sound ok in both, and inbetween.

Thanks again

I've just thought, so will let you know what I'm thinking as I would appreciate some advice on this too.

Im dont want too bringht of a sound, or fingernoise, so thought flats would be the way, but what would nickle rounds be like?

Thanks again
