Advice before I waste money

I am looking for some advice and hope someone can help. I want to record my guitar and vocals into my laptop. I purchased a PODxt to record my guitar with using a USB interface but there are no drivers for this as of yet so I attempted to use the mic in on my laptop but that will not work as it is not a line in. I thought about getting a creative labs Extigy external sound card and I assume that would work for the guitar, but how would I get vocals recorded? I have seen another product called the “Mbox” but would that be worth $500 considering that once the PODxt USB drivers are out I would no longer need it for guitar recording (I think) and it would just be for vocals. Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated.
 
I almost can't believe the audacity of some manufacturers - shipping a product before decent drivers are coded is just one of the many ways they suck...

If you're willing to spend $500, how about $600? I'm not sure if you would need all the features, but the Event EZ-Bus might just be the last thing you need for your application. I've read a couple reviews, and it apparently ROCKS... Check it out here -

What were you planning on doing with your PODXT input once you get it into the computer? Do you have a computer software-based recording system? You didn't mention. And what computer are you using?

If you don't have recording software, then the MBox is a good way to go. It offers mic/line audio ins/outs with a USB connector + Pro Tools LE software. If you already have multitrack software then there are many USB audio interfaces on the market in all price ranges (how many audio ins/outs do you need?), and you're going to need one anyway if you plan on doing vocals and other audio inputs. If you can't wait for the POD drivers to become available, you should be able to at least run a line out from the POD into the line in of whatever USB audio interface you're planning on getting.
