I currently have Sonar 2.2XL, but haven't been recording in a while. Now, I want to get my "stuff" up to date. I see that the upgrade to Sonar 4 Producer will cost me about $250, but 4 Studio only $79.
I just want to get up to speed with programs right now, so I don't want to spend too much money.
Are there any advantages to purchasing Sonar 4 Studio if I have 2.2XL?
I've noticed that the upgrade from 4 Studio to Producer is more expensive than 2.2XL to producer. Why is that?
However, IIRC, the features that 2.2XL has and Studio doesn't can be combined. Is this correct?

Please forgive me if this has already been asked, but I was unsuccessful using the search function. Thanks.

79 for the upgrade? it was 120 for me from sweetwater...

is it an actual upgrade? i thought you just got a price savings on the actual product for being a loyal user. ...i wouldnt think new software would be too efficient if it was just built on top of the old stuff... ?

I don't know if Sonar 4 Studio is an upgrade from Sonar 2.2XL. That's why I'm asking.

Sorry, my original message was unclear. That's what I get for writing down exactly what's going on in my head!

I'd call it an upgrade. Ever since 3, Sonar sounded significantly better because of the better internal mixing routines. It's also much easier to work with the bussing...bussing bussing everywhere! :D

That 79 dollars would get you a very worthwhile upgrade... but...

Me, I'm waiting just a bit more for some extra cash for Producer. I want my Surround mixing, dammit!
