Advantages of having two RNC's?

I want to buy one but it's not rackmountable. There is a deal that comes with two of them and something to make them rack mountable. I hear others saying to get two. Why? I'm just recording solo.

This is one of those times where using your head makes more sense than listening to your friends. Two look nicer in a rack and could work on stereo sources, but if you're only EVER recording one track at a time, having one makes a lot more sense. Unless you want to run one at a low ratio and one at a higher ratio for an effect...

Umm - just to clarify; the RNC is mono or stereo. What it is NOT is dual mono. So the advantage of having 2 is when you want to compress 2 different mono sources (i.e. guitar & voice, kick & snare). For OH, or anything stereo, a single RNC will do fine.

yeah haha I didn't think I needed two. I just was hoping there would be a reason so I could make it rackmountable.

Just get a simple rack tray and mount the RNC in it. I don't understand the problem.

Why can't you rack just one? that's what I did, with a Raxxess universal shelf.

Heh, Harvey beat me.

Oh, I didn't know they were stereo. Just one will do fine then.

wait how do I make it rackmountable? I don't know anything about this really. Anyone have links to the items I need to make it rack mountable?

okay I looked up that Raxxess thing. So that's what I use to make something that's not rack mountable, rack mountable? Could I add like the firebox with the RNC to the self and mount them both?

I am not sure what the issue is, I have one RNC and also their rackmount tray. It works fine and I have room to expand in it :)

You don't need to have two just to get the rack tray.

I used sticky velcro tape to mount my RNC and VTB-1 on top of my MOTU in my 2U rack. Works great so far!
