I am recording digitally with a Sound Blaster Live board (mother board is DFI k6xv3, processor AMD k6-2 400, 64 Mb RAM). I used different software. The recording goes well except that every one or two seconds there is a noise for around 20 millisecond several times there are gaps betwen samples. Recording a sine wave suddenly there are phase shift several times over this 20 millisecond, It seems that every now and then the acquisition loose several times (on a time minor to 20 ms) parts of the wave and this parts are less than a cycle. Any help will be welcome.
I know that the analogue signal is alright. I worked with different audio sources.

This sounds like a problem I had a while back. When I played several tracks and recorded them directly (simply line out to line in on the soundcard), the recorded ones were slightly shorter than the original. Something like a couple of tenths of a second on a three minute track, which caused phase shifting "noise" when played together.

It simply turned out to be due to a very fragmented disk and the write performance wasn't enough to capture each sample and some "time" was thus missing in the tracks. A couple of defrag rounds and it was all back to normal.

See if it helps
