when i record in adobe audition the beat gets recorded with the vocals. in multitrack one track is usually the beat and the others are the vocals but when i listen to the vocal part alone it still has the beat and i record with headpones in my mixer.

I have an M-audio Quattro Audio Interface & using a Yamaha MG10/2 Mixer.
Theres only a playback option in the control panel in quattro, but no recording.

Read the sticky "When track one records onto track two."

I already did didn't solve my problem. I'm guessing my soundcard isn't multi duplexing?
By the way how can you find out if your pro level card is multi duplexing? Is multi duplexing meaning you can use more than 2 ins & 2 outs? If that's the case I read some info on my soundcard the Quattro that when using the WDM driver you can only use 2 ins & 2 outs. So should I use Asio if it lets me use the 4 ins 4 outs on my Quattro?
I have Adobe 1.5 which doesn't support asio. I just really need to know more about what exactly is multi duplexing & if it has anything to do with how many ins & outs you have.

Full duplex is when youre able to playback something while recording at the same time in a recording program. I dont know exactly how to fix your problem for i've never experienced it .. but i do know what full duplex is so i figured id try to help out with that. haha. good luck.

My guess is that you are somehow routing the whole monitor signal back into the recording path, either in your hardware mixer or in the Quattro's software mixer if it has one.

The beat you are hearing with your vocals is loud or very weak?
Is it possible that sound from your headphones is recorded again?
