Hi kids... this is my first post ..I could really appreciate some advice as my coffee is getting cold and I am spending all my time in front of the damn computer - the band are all sat around smoking cos we cant get adobe audition to record.. I have an Em-u 0404 card (installed with all drivers and playing MP3'S CD OK) and am attemting to record with audition - yet despite having signal that the card is receiving input ( Ican "see" it going in) - its not recording it or sending it to my monitors.. The recording sources all say the card and nothing is muted.. but I dont get anything - I have even tried it in windows sound recorder but same problem - the card is getting the message but doesnt appear to be sending it anywhere.. can anyone please help me this morning huh?... thanks - Id appreciate any advice..

You see the card, you say? In my experience with the E-mu, it's not about seeing the card but seeing the individual channels. If you want inputs, you have to insert a send to one of your ASIO ins in the patchmix software. When I open up Sonar, the only things of the card I see are whatever "sends" to ASIO input I've put into my patchmix configuration. Wait, you're using Audition, so you want to plug in the WAVE IN into whatever physical input you want to use in the patchmix.

Is the original pc sound still there? You do have to set an additional card in Auditions Options/ Device properties and Device order menus.
You also need to select the correct left or right input for mono tracks.

Not familiar with the new E-mu cards but its patchmix control is apparently very flexible - read "complicated". You may have to try some of its presets to get a straightforward line-in direct setup.
