Does someone have experience with these (will be used for vocals). I know the Hamburg is based off of the U87, and the Vienna off of a C-12. I really don't the specifics of these two mics "comparitively" to each other. Any thoughts??

Thanks a lot Dan, your experience has been very helpful. Maybe I just read "sounds" like U87, C-12 somewhere.

I guess based on the expertise of the people at this forum, I've narrowed my choices down to the ADK Vienna and the MXL V69M. I know I'm proably going to just get a "use your ears, one's not really better than the other" type response, but what would you reccomend out of the two?

If your vox are between tenor and baritone as you stated in another post I'd say go with the Hamburg. If you are trying to go more in the pop vocal range get the Vienna IMHO. Yeah and as you already said trust your ears before anyone's recomendations including me. If you can't audition these mics try to buy from an online dealer that allows returns so if you aren't happy with your first choice you have other options.

Oh and this is on ADK's Website which probably gave you the U87 impression:

<The Application for the Hamburg would be when you want that certain “Smoothness”, Historically the Vintage German Tone.> Good luck.

Thanks, you've been quite helpful as I really wasn't even considering the ADK line before your comments. Based on reading though, I've read it's much easier to cut the EQ down on the Vienna to sound like the Hamburg, but not vice versa. I'll probably end up buying off of ebay, so a return might not be possible. So, I think I might be safer with the Vienna IMHO.

I must be getting old. When I hear "Vintage German Tone", I think U47, not U87.

You are correct in thinking of the U47 as do I but because the U87 is approaching 40 years since they were introduced (I believe it was 1967) I guess that mic deserves its place in Vintage German Tone as well. :-)
