Does anyone know where these brands are manufactured?

Are they imported already assembled or are they assembled in the US from Chinese components as Rode partially does here in Australia.

Does anyone know and care to share the truth.

ADK????

Don't you mean AKG!

AKG is made in (I am 95% sure) Austria.

The Marshall mics are made in China and final QC is here in the states. I believe the ADKs are also made in China. Alan Hyatt would know more about the ADKs.

Harvey,
Thanks for your comments. Other threads have refered to ADK's being OEM from China. I just need to have accurate info before I go back to an Aust. retailer who claimed firstly that they were German, then that they were US made using Chinese diaphragms only.
I was hoping Alan would shed some light on this for me.

Most of the ADK mics are made in a south China factory that was started by a few guys that bailed out of Fengli. Fengli makes the real innexpensive Marshalls, and a bunch of other brands, but now they have started SE Electronics as well. In other words, Fengli is stabbing the brands they OEM for in the back by manufacturing SE and being in direct competition with them.

I am not sure what the factory name is that was started from the guys who left Fengli, but my guess is either ADK, or others put some funding into them because I was asked to have my mics made there by them, but no way!

I have seen the quality at all the factories and choose to stay with 797. They do what I need them to do, and do it well, so I stick with them. I am not saying any mics made in these factories in South China are bad, I just think 797 makes better product.

So at the end of the day both ADK and Marshall mics are totally manufactured in China and not as is being said locally (at least in the case of ADK) using circuit boards made in the US and assembled in the US.

Alan, can you confirm my summation please?

Ausrock,

I would have to see the assembly line to believe it. I know Larry at ADK has deep ties in China, and the labor here is too expensive. You can bring in the goods from China 99% assembled, and pack them in a case and say it is "final" assembled in the USA, but that is a bit of a cheat...even I would not do that.

So, I am very skeptical about it. If it is true, then I hope Larry at ADK invites me for a tour of his plant here in California. He is a local here in California, but my take is it is all done in China, so I guess prove it to me if I am wrong.

When I talked to Larry of ADK he told me they were in fact all now made in China. Protoypes and such were not made there, but they are made there now. The stickers on the mics say made in China, I think they are packaged there too. He didn't claim they were US made at all, because he wanted to keep cost lower.

I do think the ADKs are great mics, btw. But I am anxious to try the SP mics.

I have news for you, the prototypes are from China as well. I am sure Larry does no building of mics, or circuits. Like me, I can consider that he may do component changes, or other modifications, but he does not build any mics as prototypes.
