Any one got one? How does it sound? What have you used it for? I found one for $130.00. Just wondering if it was worth adding to my arsenal.

There are many different types of A-51's. Type III's and type V's get great reviews around here. I don't have the 51 but I have the ADK SC-1 and I love it for acoustic guitar and drum OH's, hand percussion, etc. I saw on ebay earlier both of these mics packaged with ADK cables for under $150, and one was $130 at the time, I believe.

Its the A51 type V. What does the V stand for? Are they any good on vocals? I was thinking of trying them as overheads. Any details and sudgestions are welcome.

I have the ADK typeV A51 and I like it on my voice quite a bit. It's not as bright as say my AT 3035 but it is a bit more open sounding if a bit dark. I like it's tone and it sounds good on accoustic guitar or even bright cymbals. I can't guarrantee you'll love it but if you look on ebay you can find em for near $100 which makes it a worth a try IMO.

Thanks jake, I will look into one, maybe two. This one I found is brand new for $130.

The V is for "Five." There are (apparently) five different series. The IV (four) gets slammed.

So what makes the "5" so special? I went ahead and got one anyway. Was going to run it through the ropes tonight.

WOW WOW WOW. I didnt like it on Ron's vocal at first. It seemed too expresive. A little light during the soft phrases, but great on the louder phrases. I figured I would have to do some harder compression to get the levels worked out just right. I was kinda dissapointed until I threw it infront of the acoustic guitar. WOW. Cant describe how open and expresive on the dean acoustic. Man it sounded good. Then I stuck it over the drums just for fun along side the 319. Man I am listening to the two tracks now. It sounds perfect on my cymbals and it picks up the toms so well. So much brighter than the 319. Man, its my new overhead for now. It just sounds great. You can hear each part so clearly with no coloration. I am fairly impressed with the ADK 51 V. I cant wait ot try it out on a female voice.

I use my type III pairs for overhead and acoustic guitar. I chose them after A/B-ing them with some other mics. Don't like them on vocals though. Too much "tube" distortion in the upper mids for my taste. But this is great on OH and acoustic guitars, especially the guitars.
