hello all..
Can anyone tell me how to add VSTi's to the pulldown list that says " no vst instrument and Halion " ? I think thats what I need to do to get it to recognize my M-Audio KeyRig 49 Synth software. I'm having the same problem as many..The red meter goes up when you key a note but that's it..It doesn't seem to see the Synth..Any other ideas? Thanks in advance

Also, the keyrig came with Abelton live..Is this easier to use than Cubase ?
I'm just recording as a hobby , and the cubase is making me lose alot of sleep figuring this midi set-up stuff out..

Ok, im going to suggest you use an instrument track, as they are easy to start off with until you get the hang of it.

Right click on the channel area, and say "add new instrument track". Following the options through, setting the input to "ALL MIDI INPUTS" and the output to whatever VSTi you want.

Does that work?

Waffle, thanks for the reply, but my trouble was deeper than that..
The Keyrig Synth wasn't showing up in the VSTi pulldown at all..
But after disabling Halion in the vst list and having it disappear in the pull-down,
I found the folder containing the HalionOne.dll file, copied the KeyRig.dll file into that folder and Eureka! Now when I open the VST pulldown, it has added Keyrig to the list along with HalionOne...That only took about 15hrs to figure out !!! LOL
Now I just have to figure out how I killed the sound on my click track..
Anyhow, my Idiots Guide to Cubase came in the mail today, so it's smooth sailin' from here on in...Yeah Right..
Thanks again, Gord

I do like zero MIDI or synth stuff with my cubase LE, but I wonder if changing your power-up or hook up order might fix things.

Well, Obie, I tried just about everything I could think of, and this finally worked..So I'm goin' with it..but yes I tried different power-up orders, plugging in the Midi Controller before and after Cubase start-up,etc..Nothing...I think when you're new, you learn alot but trying everything 100 times until you see something you haven't clicked/disabled/enabled yet, and then it decides to work and you make a note of it, say " Holy Shit...Finally" and have another beer! Cheers!
