Adding effects " lots of questions"

Hi, I have a few questions about adding effects to tracks. I cant seem to find the answers anywhere in the help menues.
First, do the real time effects that you add in the multitrack window apply or get sent to the stereo wave file after mixdown?
Also, is it better to add effect to each individual track or wave file in the edit veiw,like a little hard limiting to get the clips out, or a little eq to boost vocal presence. Then, go back into multrack with each file touched up nice, do your final mix, then mixdown to stereo wave file add a little reverb and be done. This is how I do it and it seems to work fine for me but uses a lot of processer power. Would it be better to put some tracks effects like a limiter on a bus A or B in mulitrack view.?
Sorry about all of the questions. Im a new user of cool edit and would apprieciate any advice I could get. Trying to get my bands next cd done by the middle of next month.

A: Yes.

A: For effects that are processor intensive, you'll either need to transform in edit view or lock the effects in multitrack. For the rest, it's really just personal prefferance- where do you enjoy working more: edit view or multitrack? Where can you apply the effects easier. Important note: ALWAYS keep a copy of the original unmolested file!

A: Use a bus if you know you're going to use 1 effect for multiple tracks. simple as that.

Thanks . I couldnt find some of those answers anywhere. Hopefully I can start getting these tracks to sound better.
