I have an older Apple G4 desktop running OS 10.4.11. I added a second monitor by adding a PCI video card. I also have a video switch on the main monitor so I can switch between it and the video monitor at my drums... I'd like to get rid of the video switch (it's a Trendnet TK-207 that I'm actually running backwards but it works) and have three monitors on, the drum one duplicating my main one.

Can I add a second PCI video card and run a 3rd video monitor?

Thanks. The cards aren't a problem - there's lots on eBay, often for less than $10 (that's what I paid for the last one) I just was wondering if it works, and was wondering also, since the monitors control panel, as far as I know, only handles two monitors, will the third mirror the first monitor?

I would look for a dual output card rather than add a 3rd if I were you.

If you're running OS X 10.4 or 10.5, they easily handle 8 discrete monitors (I have tested it)

I'm currently using two monitors on my G4 (running OS 10.4.11) and they show up in the System Preferences' Display screen. When you add another, do you get to choose if it mirrors the main one or the second one?

Thanks.

Neither.

Either you mirror all or you extend your desktop against all 3 discretely.
