Hey there. New guy here :) And fairly new to doing drum stuff in Pro Tools. I am using Drumkit from Hell and using the loops from DfH. Is there any way to add, let's say cymbals, to a loop to spice up the loop? Because when I try to record something on a loop using the keybaord it does record the new stuff I do, but at the same time the loop itself is deleted where I record. I know I can probably just create another track for the cymbals, but isn't there a way to add stuff (without adding by clicking with your mouse) to the existing loop in the same track?

First off...welcome aboard,

Secondly....although I'm sure there is a way to record over a midi track....it is over my head. It is WAY easier to just set up another Midi track to overlay drum tracks...or leads...etc...

Currently I am using the M-Audio Keystation 49....Anytime that I have tried to record over a Midi track...the track has deleted itself. I only did this two or three times...then I just started recording extra tracks.

Also....by recording extra tracks....you are then able to tweak your cymbals...or whatever "seperatly"....thus allowing a better mix.

Check out this website:

Tweakheadz is the #1 site for learning about home and project music studios.

Everything you will ever need to know about home recording...Midi...etc... is within that website.

Open the transport window and click on the midi merge button. Any new midi recording should then be non destructive.

It's the blue button to the right.
