Ok you technical types out there. Especially those with high end equipment. Specifically, what are the part numbers (and manufacturers)of the Analog/Digital and Digital/Analog convertor chips inside your convertor boxes. Example: Mfg is Burr-Brown, DAC part number is PCM1739. That's a 24 bit, 96KHz stereo (2 channel) chip. Just an idea I've been thinking about for awhile. Don't worry, I don't intend to clone any manufacturers board or circuitry. I can't afford a lawyer on retainer for problems like that. However, I do believe that quality conversion hardware could be made available to home recording guys (and girls)at a better price than what we are seeing. If you don't have the technical expertise to assemble what I'm suggesting you can find someone who does. I have 20+ years experience in electronics but will need help when it comes to the software. Believe me, you don't need a 10 million dollar plant to build your own quality gear. Just attention to detail and proper instructions. Bet I get some flames on this.
