hi
not sure exactly which forum this should go in so im sorry if choosing the one with the biggest amount of threads was wrong, but this is somthing im having bother with and could do with some suggestions/advice.
i have Recently purchased a Mutec DIB-06 ADAT card for my Akai S5000 sampler, however on hooking this up to my Behringer DDX3216 digital mixer via Adat input i get digital clicks and rattles. which sounds very much like misclocking.
on all the 'left' channels of all 4 pairs ie 1 3 5 and 7
after de racking the sampler and unscrewing the thing, much sadness and blue air followed!
i tried clocking the S5000 from the WC out on the DDX.
i tried clocking the DDX from the ADAT out of the Mutec card.
i tried hooking the ADAT out from the S5000 to DDX and the out of the DDX to the S5000 WITH the WC as well!
i even tried clocking the S5000 from my DAT optical out and the DDX from the DAT coax out!
always the same result.
at 44.1khz it still crackles no matter what clock connection
at 48khz it crackles a bit less
on a few occasions when clocking with the S5000 as master clock Via ADAT the DDX showed a lock at 44.1 then went 44.2, 44.3, 44.. then the clock signal would be lost!!??
{ONE POINT TO NOTE.. when running the test tone from the S5000, it would be at (i assume) 1khz however when switching to 48khz the tone would increase in pitch?!!??? what would that mean??}
i have no other ADAT gear apart from a Behringer ADA8000 (8 channel mic to ADAT rackunit) which has been master into the DDX with NO trouble AT ALL
i can only assume it is the Mutec card that is at fault.
of course i only worked this out at 8pm on friday, and Thomann arnt open on saturday, well any time ive rung in the past its been the security guy... and i doubt if he could help
i'll be ringing them on monday morning and it looks like i will have to send the card back, however i thought this post MIGHT reach the eyes of SOMEONE who could offer another solution to my plight. otherwise i shall go Bananas
much thanks in advance
Rod
