Could anyone tell me, that if I connect a FOSTEX HD recorder with my AUDIOPHILE 2496 soundcard, using one of those little converter gadgets (ADAT <=> SPDIF), do I receive the 8 tracks from the recorder in my computer, so I could mix them down with CUBASE 3.0?
I sometimes get a little mixed up with all those standards ;-))
Thanks homies

S/PDIF is a 2-channel protocol - ADAT Lightpipe is an 8-channel protocol.......

You need an interface between the 2 to transfer data....

M*Audio SAM will work........

a little to hefty for my pocket. Well Thanks for the help.

Too bad

Well, I almost expected something like this.
But meanwhile I found a card manufactured by MARIAN which has --only-- ADAT inputs and is a bit cheaper than the CO2 (here in Germany it's about 129.- EUR).
Only disadvantage is, you'll have to spare another PCI-Slot in your machine.
But thanks anyway for the valuable hint.
Keep on rollin' and recording!
