say i were to get a 4 channel or 8 channel mic pre with adat lightpipe output. And I were to get a adat lightpipe PCI card. Will i be able to record all channells simutaniously? I thinkso but not sure. I'm am new to this technology.

Make sure it's truly an ADAT lightpipe compatible card. Optical (2 channel/toslink) connectivity does not necessarily mean ADAT (8 channel) connectivity.
