ADAT head cleaning (follow up)

Well, I took my ADAT to my tech (who is also an ADAT owner) and he cleaned everything good for cheap. But... the ERROR 7 message is still on the readout. Even though everything plays and works fine. He said he had the same problem with his older XT (mine's and XT20) and that he had to have some 'chip' replaced that they didn't update when they updated the ADAT to the XT and the early XT20's. He explained it much better than this, so I'm paraphrasing. Sound familiar to anyone?

I'm still going to get the ADAT mainenance video for next time though.

Yes.... if you do a full cleaning, and still get an error 7, the unit may be experiencing the problem noted by Eddie Ciletti --> http://homerecording.about.com/gi/d...technology.com/machines/fivemin1.html#ERROR-7

The problem you are having sounds like the read pre amp IC
inside the headstack has gone faulty. Being an Warranty depot
for Alesis I have seen this problem before. The only solution is to get the chip replaced.
