Im an ex-spurt
Greetings fellow humans...

I'm still having some translation issues but it's mainly coming down to bass now.
I don't think my A7's are quite doing it.
So I'm lookin at these Yorkville YSS2 Powered Studio Subwoofer

My room is odd shaped (kinda like a really fat "L") and roughly measures 18' by 14' with a ceiling that slopes up to a little over 10' from just under 8'.
Superchunks floor to ceiling in the main 4 corners, cloud above my desk, another trap flushed with a wall and 4 bass traps along the peak of the ceiling.

I'm thinkin to leave my A7's at full range and just bring the sub in at just enough volume to fill out what the 6.5's aren't.
Set the sub at around 85hz, I think.

Think I'd be ok?

Much thanks... :drunk:

Does the low frequency response change depending where you are in the room? If it was me, I'd probably invest in some room treatment (specifically, corner-mounted broadband absorbers) before looking into a sub. I might also invest in some speakers non-ported speakers that take the very bottom end of the spectrum out of the equation, like NS-10s, Auratones (or one of their many knock-offs).

The A7s go pretty deep for their size, and they have their resonances fairly well-controlled as far as ported speakers are concerned. If you could just do one thing, getting some room treatment or some inexpensive-but-accurate non-ported speakers would probably do a lot more for your mixes than getting a sub. Without those other things in place, you might find that the sub just adds to the confusion.

Thanks man. ;)

Like I said tho, I've got superchunks and bass traps already hung. My room actually sounds pretty good.

Just wondering if the A7's and Yorkville might be a good combo OR if I'm just looking in the wrong direction for the right answer.

Know what I mean?
