I've heard a soundcard comparison in the mic forum between a Delta and a Lynx, and I have to say I'm impressed. It made me wanna start on a quest for a soundcard/converter upgrade

So, let's try to put together a list of avaliable converters in the order of their sound quality (in your opinion, of course). Let's disregard the number of in/out for now.

So far, I've gathered these (from others' opinions or just my guess):

1) SBlive and below
2) Delta, Echo, DigiDesign(besides the TDM rig), Aardark, Edirol, Terratec, Tascam (dunno about the new FW stuff tho)
3) MOTU
4) RME, Lynx, Lucid, Grace Design
5) Apogee, Benchmark

Let me know what else is missing from the list or if you have a dif opinion about their sound quality.

That probably seems about right but I would probably say that MOTU are about equal with RME. Their HD192 model is a very high quality unit.

my opinion...higher end products are based on engineers that i trust who way in on things

low end:
aardvark, m-audio, echo, motu(except HD192) etc.

limbo: RME

pretty good A/D and d/a: in ascending order:
apogee, lucid, PT HD, motu hd 192, lynx two

REAL Good a/d, d/a just isn't as good:
HEDD, mytek

and all be all of converters
benchmark, prism, lavry, radar s-nyquist, genex dsd

If you think the Apogee is the best and the Lynx Two is the worst of this group you listed these in decending order.

From my experiences.....

Low.........Sblive etc
better.....maudio, delta's
better..... digi 001, 888, etc
better..... aardvark, motu
high........ rme
