Hot darn.

On the local market, someone's been selling a FERNANDESmg-85c
guitar for past 5months now... (list price here 995.-) He started from 900.- and has dropped it little by little, now at 490.-:D

If I hadn't just blown 900.- for a LPbaritone, I'd buy it from him out of pitty!!... I actually feel sorry for the bastard, I'd paint it black and sell as a wooden one.:p

Has anyone played an acrylic??
Is it SO bad??

The Dan Armstrong clear plastic guitars got pretty good marks, as I recall. There are a couple on eBay now (a guitar and a bass) for over two grand.

i remember seeing the stones on tv when i was about ten and keith played a transparant dan armstrong.

man that looked soooooooooo cool!!!

I had one of the very first ampegs and the switchable pickup modules
were pretty nice. But the rest of the guitar sounded like crap.
The neck flexed like crazy, you had to pay more attention to not putting
any pressure on the neck when fingering than you did to actually playing.
That was along time ago like 30-35years ago hopefully they have stiffened them up some by now. I'd have to call it a waste of money.

I played one of those acrylic BC Rich Mockingbirds at a shop one time and it sounded like absolute cock and balls.

Other brands, such as the Fernandes, may not be as bad, but it certainly gave me the impression that I would never take an acrylic guitar seriously.

I've messed around with a reissue Dan Armstrongs, and it's pretty awesome. A friend of mine has a Univox Lucy, which is a Dan Armstrong copy, and he likes it a lot.

However, the acrylic thing also seems to be a marketing gimmick for cheap-o brands like Galveston to sell unplayable guitars that get absolutely horrible reviews on Harmony Central and the like.

Pray tell, exactly what does absolute cock and balls sound like? :D

It's exactly 3 worse than when something sounds like ass. The only thing worse is sounding like cock and balls in an ass..and the only thing I've ever heard that reached that level was a Myhatbroke recording. He may or may not have been using an acrylic guitar.

Where the hell did you come from? Did you do your daily search for "cock and balls" and this thread popped up?

:D
That's a good point. I never would have opened a thread about goddam acrylic guitars if i didn't expect male genitalia to be mentioned.

Excellent explanation! :D
