acoustics with NT1000

I know the Rode NT1000 is primarily for vocals but has anyone tried recording an acoustic guitar with it? how does it compare with other favourites like the SP B1 and MVL 603s?

I don't have any experience with the NT1000 on accoustic, but I do with the NTK, which is similar, and as far as that one goes, I'd say it's probably much better than the B1, but not quite as good as the 603. I'm sorry, but I just love that mic on the accoustic. The B1 is far too neutral for my taste -- you need need a little extra high end to get a decent accoustic sound, in my opinion.

I have an nt1000 and a NTK and they both work great on accustic. The song I am currently working on, I used the nt1000 on an accustic just for a rough track to get the project started. This recording even though I was not trying to "do it right" came out better than any accustic recording I have done. I was recording a martin dx1. I like the open sound of the Nt1000.

I haven't tried the 603s yet, but I have ordered two, and am looking forward to trying them.

I have compared the nt1000 to a 414 I have accsess to, and on accustic I liked the nt1000 better. They were very similar IMO, but the nt1000 seemed a little smoother on the high end.

thanks for your replies. could you share with me about your mic placement when you recorded with the NT1000/NTK.

I just actually recorded some accoustic tracks tonight with the nt1000. I would like to tell you that I used some unique placement to get the perfect sound, but that just isn't the case.
I had the mic 10-12 inches from the guitar at the point were the neck joins the body and turned slightly towards the 11th fret.

I tried other positions, but kept comming back to this. Every guitar is different, but for my martin this works extremily well. The guy I was recording was very impressed and kept bringing up the sound of the accoustic all evening.
