Acoustics in a basement

My studio is in my unfinished basement and needless to say the acoustics are terrible. My drums are set up on a 2" high carpeted platform, next to one cement wall(which can't be good), and open on all other sides. The ceiling, well doesn't exist. It's just insolation and beams. So....what should I do. I was trying to think of a way to almost make a seperate room but I am a little low on funds so I have to be careful on how much i spend. Any help would be great. Hey thanks John.
Another question/suggestion... what about using mattresses? if I got my hands on a bunch of old mattresses and surrounded my platform with them? Thanks again....Josh
