Hmm, cool tune, the guitars sounds good... But the drums and vocals sound very roomy, very livingroomy... Were they recorded in a living room?

Typing as I listen through h'phones.
I actually like the vocal sound. It would sound more intimate with an iso booth & close mic'ing.
The strting line is good too.
The only nit pick I'd offer is that there's not a lot of top in the guitar. Just my personal taste but I like the jangle of the E & B strings right up there.\ at 2.25 the far b'ground key line is a bit anonymous - possibly because it's well back in the image. maybe another sample or bring it forward a little.
I really like this song & am pleased that it's not buried beneath an ultra digitallly distorted guitar. There's a heap of menace and expression just in the arrangement, structure & performance that a cranky guitar would overstate.
Very good work.

Nice work Gary. Try a mix without the verb on the vocals and I think you have a keeper.

Thanks alot rayc , wx3 and Nymorningstar. I tryed taking your guest suggestions and updated the mix. Took the verb off the vox/drums, and tryed to add a bit more high end to the guitar (not sure if it was enough). I really appreciate the help.

Appreciate the thanks :)

Changes sound nice. Take a couple days off this project, then give it a listen and come back and tell us what you think.

This is coming along really well. Let me know if you're going to tweak again or not as I'll down load it now or later dependant on the reply.
NYMorningstar's suggestion re a rest should be employed either way. fresh ears are essential before commiting to a final mix.

Very nice, Gary! Great song!
I think that I only heard updated version.
There was one part at 1.42 I wasn't too much enthusiastic about.
I would use acoustic guitar for those few solo notes.
Anyway, I liked both your style and your voice.
Congratulation!

Hey, that's a nice arrangement of that song. In general, I like it better than the heavy version.

But...I'm gonna be negative (I've got at least one of your songs on my portable mp3 player, so I'm allowed to be super critical :)). For me, those vocals just don't sit with an acoustic sound. The vocals should lighten up, or the music should heavy up. Either could work. As I say, the general arrangement works well. So it's well worth tweaking some more.

Have fun

Sikter - Thanks so much, i agree theres a few parts im kinda iffy on. I took a few days off from it im going to go back to it see if I have the ability to fix it up

aspiring - thanks alot for the comments, i agree in part with the vocals. I have two versions of the vocal line one much softer i kept bouncing back and forth. I'll certainly consider it when i go back to it. Thanks again

I'm sorry to hear that :) . I live up in northeast pa (wilkes barre/scranton area) . From and spent most my life in the philadelphia area though. Hope jamfest was worth the drive through PA. If you drove through this area tell your tires that the overwhelming amount potholes are sorry.

I like the acoustic gtr sound backing the sneery vox, since the guitar is pretty aggressive. To me the synth sounds don't fit as well but I rarely like synths anyway. FWIW I'm imagining a bit of bluesy harmonica and a tambourine in this. Please add them immediately to suit my whim. :D

Tim

This has a funky blues undercurrent to it. I agree with Tim on adding some tambourine, and perhaps a little bluesy lead note flavouring...ever so lightly, as a spice added to enhance the flavour of a dish, without overpowering it. I don't know about the harmonica though. It may take too much away from that rock feel. The vox is deep and raw emotion, to soft and expressive, all in one breath....making one listen closely.

...a second lead vox gettin down and dirty would be the ticket.

In places it is Supertrampish...Alice Cooperish.

Tim...I love the expression, Sneery Vox...what a great description of the sound! :)

I like it a lot!!

One thing my ear keeps waiting for is a few slide guitar riffs here and there. Otherwise it very cool! ;)
