Heres a moody acoustic tune for your listening pleasure. I recorded it a couple years ago and just remixed the other day. Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Justin

Very nice, quite melodic, lyrics worked for sure.

Something is not quite sitting right with me though, it seems the entire track was glossed with *something* - I just don't know what....a nit-pick...others may think it sounds fine.

The chorus (the free part) seems a bit off-key vocally at points but it may be the harmony being down in the mix, I'd bring that up a bit.

Truth be told, this is a very, very nice song - excellent work.

Nice

Very nice mellow tone. I'm guessing you use an acoustic/electric. If not, could you give some specifics on mic placement, filters, etc.
How do you keep string noise to a minimum?, and anything else you want to share with a newbie that also records acoustic guitar. Thanks for any info.

Hey guys thanks very much for your nice comments.

Lynx: There is a gloss, probably due to 2 very rich reverbs. It may be too much. The backing vocal is a tad out of pitch. I need to be more of a perfectionist, but these songs are just done for fun.

Monkeyshock: I used a Takamine with a cedar top mic'd with a Rode NT-2. I used a little compression and a high boost from 10K to 16K. There is no string noise because the whole tune stays in the same general area on the neck.

Thanks again,
Justin

This sounds great. The synth strinmgs sound a touch too synthy for me if I was to be picky. The backing vocals sound too distant with a bit too much of a long verb especialy the high end on the verb. Also reducing the verb on the low strings would make things clearer. Vocal sounds great. Nice tune, well recorded.

Ian.........

Those strings should have sounded better. They were triggered from Gigastudio and sent from a SB Live! There was so much noise that I had to use a ton of noise reduction. This was before a had a system that could run Giga and Sonar together. I used too much high end boost on the verb. I did want the post fade sound on the BV.

Thanks
Justin

good sound, I didn't notice the strings untill the middle somewhere, then I said, hey, I'm hearing strings. Nice.

I liked it as well I don't know dick about mixing, but it sounded good as hell on my computer speakers fwiw
