Agree with Ethan. Also, consider something over your mix position to help with height related bass issues.

I can't put another bass trap in the corner by the door, because it has to open for me to get in. how can I get arund this?

fit a bass trap to the door that still allows it to move?

also I will be doing some sort of ceiling treatment

Yes, when you can't straddle a corner with a door, you put a trap on the door and another on the wall near the corner, as shown below.

Bass traps don't need to hang in verticle corners. Consider wall-ceiling corners.

ok so I've made a start on my panels, where is a cheap place in the UK that stocks some kinda decent glue to stick my acoustic tiles onto the rockwool?

or can I use 'no more nails' I have a tube of that somewhere

I've bought some spray adhesive now so don't answer that previous post.

I'm gonna use one of my panels as a ceiling cloud - Have you got any tips on how to hang them? Its a typical top floor ceiling in a semi detached house.

I've now made five 1200x600 panels

2 either side on each wall
2 hung behind the monitors
1 as a ceiling cloud

I'm going to order the acoustic tiles now, I would like a whole sheet I can cut to size, but can't seem to find any,
so I was thinking of getting these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=290255090986 (Purple Spikey Ones)

If you haven't already, I'd hold off on the foam, especially that brand. Maybe you can use what you've done so far for something else, but I think the Ebay foam has the look, but ends there. It won't do anything noticeable, and if anything decrease the high end.

I'm certainly no expert on room acoustics (check my other threads !!), but had some foam layed on me for cheap, and it's useless. Looks great, and I may still use some, just for a nice "look".

There's stuff like "foam by mail", and many similar others. It's cheap, but don't waste your money.
The Aurelex is A LOT more expensive, and I would tend to think, marginally better. Good for REALLY bad flutter echo , stuff like that, but sticking wedge, spike, etc... foam up "randomly" is not going to work.

ok thanks for that, and to be honest its the genral vibe I'm picking up from doing a genral search.

But is Aurelex 'the foam' to get or is there an alternative????

p.s. I'm UK based
