Okay i'm only interested in hearing pure acoustic guitar + vocals. :)

If thats you, or you've done a similar recording:

1) List the equipment that you've used to record it (guitar, mic, pre/mixer etc etc).
2) What kind of Eq'ing, Effects / Plugins, etc... used.
3) Post a link to your track!
4) Comments about your song that you'd like to share (Optional)

Why you ask? Because i'm an acoustic nut!! and well... i want to analyse how you pro's (and amatuers) record this stuff. The little tricks you guys use (if you want to share) as well as check out all the acoustic homerecording talent out there!

Thanks guys... and looking forward to hearing your stuff!

Well you already know what I do johnzo.

But in the future, after I get my new sound card, I hope to get better results.

I'll obviously let you know and give you the link to GuitaristWorks.com

Nice recording Rat!! Enjoyed that heaps... nice guitar and nice song. Haven't actually heard the Zep version.

Vocals didn't sound too clear playing through my speakers though. But i guess thats probably the effect you were after... or maybe how Zep had it too?

Good stuff!!

Keep the music coming fellows! :D

Alot of the stuff is just me and a guitar, mic'd with a single Soundelux U97 into a Great River MP2 into a Delta 44. Recorded with N-Track and mixed with Waves plug-ins. "Mercy of the Wheels" used a Neumann KM184 for the second guitar track, I believe that was my 1956 Martin 00-18 (the main guitar part was my Martin D16H). "Che Guevara T-Shirt" was a Larrivee OM03R. "Fallen Leaves" was a Taylor 512 (tuned to DADGAD)

I've since purchased a Santa Cruz OM/PW and I hope to have some recordings with that guitar up soon.

Thanks. That is indeed the effect. On the original, the vocal and the steel guitar are SWIMMING in verb. :D

Wow Evan... some very nice tunes there. Very easily listening that stuff. Those are all originals right?

My mate thought i was listening to Cat Stevens when i was playing that... so there you go mate. A very nice compliment there...

Okay newb q's! The guitar tracks are always recorded in a separate take to the vocal tracks (and everything else) right?

Any funky solo jazz guitarists out there wanna share some of their stuff here?

Gordone said he recorded vocals and guitar with a single mic...I guess he means vocal&guitar at the same time.

I record guitar first on one track, and vocals on another track. That way, obviously I can manipulate each track by itself.

ie. I would usually compress the guitar and add chorus reverb to my vocals...because my singing is pretty bad. I generally like to beef it up a bit.

Thanks for listening johnzo! I'm a big Cat Stevens fan, so thanks for the compliment! Fallen Leaves, Family Story, and Dean Moriarty are originals (well Dean Moriarty's lyrics are from Kerouac's On The Road), the rest are covers. I wish I wrote more, but I'm lazy...

I believe all the songs with just vocals and guitar were recorded in ONE take, with one microphone picking up the vocals and guitar. "I Am" was recorded live in one take, but I had a Neuman KM184 on the guitar and the U97 on vocals, although there was bleed in both mics. "The Mercy of the Wheels" was recorded in one take the same way, but I added the piano and "lead" guitar later (I only have two hands!) Any other ?s, feel free to ask!

I'm both a gear nut and an Acoustic guitar nut!
