Hello, im trying to get a acoustic recording setup... i currently own an NT1a and some 57's, Behringer eurorack mixer, and am using adobe audition. Suggestions for a 1-2 output interface/soundcard that contains GREAT-sounding preamps. my $ range is around 500, but could go cheaper if the expense is not needed. thx

Good preamps are a good idea. Good mics are a better idea, particularly for acoustic guitar. How about a pair of SDs and a recording interface with decent preamps?

My two-year experience with the Behringer was that it was brittle and harsh on acou guit high end freqs. In contrast, the M-Audio DMP3 ($160) excells as an Acou Guit preamp. From the MP3s I've heard, it is better than the RNP for that application. You can get excellent results with a couple of MXL 603s or MK012s (the Russian ones) also for about $160. Any soundcard in the $200 range will also give excellent results (M-audio, EMU, Echo).

If you can't make excellent acou guit recordings with this setup, it isn't the recording equipment.
