Acoustic Music Recording?

Hoping someone can help me... I'm in the process of writing a paper on recording an acoustic music ensemble and have to cover preproduction, production and postproduction. Then within 2 weeks will be recording.
What are the steps to recording? And what does preproduction involve apart from hiring a studio, rehearsing?Would you class Mixing in production or postproduction?
Is there anywhere on this site that covers all this, cause I cant find it! I'd appreciate any help. I'm sure when I get to actual recording (will be recording on an 8 track)I'll need more help! Can you please email me or post back asap. I'd really appreciate.

You should run a search on key words for all forums on all dates-so many posts would suffice I'm sure.

well im with krys on this , its not that everyone here never has time to answer questions like that , its just that is one huge question , and i dont think anyone has time to answer that .. But like krys said , just do a search , perhaps post a thread asking for some good url's , i cant think of any off hand but theres some great ones around.. well good luck anyway Emp... and by the way welcome to our humble little hideaway...
