In the beginning (way back when) I started with a Gina Echo & Cool Edit....easy enough....then moved up to a Presonus Firewire and Adobe Audition.....later got a steal on a Yamaha O2R with 3 Tascam TIDIF Boards and found that the Presonus was pretty much useless for the O2R....so I bought a Motu 2408 Mk3.....with the TIDIF I have 24 IN & OUT via the O2R...,which is great.....everything is compatible and all is well.....well not completely. Here's where the tech overload grinds me to a halt. My brain is in Meltdown mode....I have so many questions on which way I should go .... I'm not really sure where to begin. Whats killin me is I get so bogged down in Tech and PC issues ....no recording is getting done and ideas are not being captured.
1st) Does anyone know if the Personus Firewire and the Motu 2408 are compatible ??? more direct...can I run the Presonus into the Motu PCI-424 card and will Audition recognize it ??? I'll run a test on my days off ....but as of now I have no idea if this will fly of if I will mess anything up if I do. I do know you can Daisy Chain the Motu's......
2nd) I've been considering dumping the O2R if the Motu & Personus are compatible. 16 IN & OUT are more than enough for what I'm doing.....and I also need some preamp XLR inputs which the Presonus gives me..... I don't think I'm utilizing the O2R and its features, so getting that out of my life wouldn't be a bad thing...and I could always use the money for something else in the studio.
3rd) Last, if the answer to question 1 is NO ...and I keep the O2R.....is there anywhere here in the Forum that deals with the Motu Cue Mix Console Software. I have not been able to wrap my head around this at all and is a big sticking point in my dilemma. Mainly how to BUS to external EFX units. Which opens up a whole new can of worms. Do I route my EFX - BUS's thru the Motu or the O2R ??? and how that integrates with Cue Mix software and Audition and the O2R and the Motu.
I think I hear my Mother speaking to me from beyond the grave....then again it could be my dead Parrot from a previous life in a parallel dimension squawking gibberish in a foreign language for all I know. Dear God....some body put a bullet in me ......welcome to Home Recording.
