Just solo acoustic guitar. Just wondering if it's sounding alright. Recorded with two MXL V67's to a Delta 66 card. Taylor 710.

'Gringo Lingo'

Thanks for any listeners.

Very pretty tune. I like it. Seems you captured the sound well. Damn nice playing. Good stuff...

what were the postions of the mics? The sound is very pristene, tasteful and excellent technique.
I`d like to hear a touch more of the body resonance over the string contact.

Beautiful tune and playing Chris.

Thinking along the line of Toki987's comment I tinkered with some EQ on it using my Waves linear EQ and liked the sound it gave. FWIW, the settings were -1.5 dB @ 220 Hz (low shelf), +1.5 dB @ 430 Hz Q1 (bell filter), and -2 dB @ 3800 Hz Q1 (bell).

My own taste in reverb is for a short (1 sec decay) dark reverb, but the verb on this sounds very good to me.

Thanks for all the listens and the encouraging words.

As for the mic positions, I tried to get as close a X/Y configuration as I could. One pointing at the 12th fret and one pointing down toward the bottom of the guitar. Approximately 18" to 24' out in front of the guitar soundhole and just a little beneath the soundhole.

Now the bad news about the EQ, don't really have any good EQ plugins to speak of. And the Logic program I'm using is'nt one of thier better programs. I must be computer challenged cause I'm not really sure I have the ability to do what you're talking about. Have to look into that waves program.

For the reverb, I love reverb. Sometimes to much. Using the Sir program with a Lexicon PCM Hall reverb I got at noisevault. I think it's the small church impulse I'm using on this piece.

Once again thanks! :D

Ditto with Tim and Toki. I'd just like to hear a bit more of the wood but the playing is beautiful. Great technique. I was hoping I could download this one but I guess you're protecting your copyright. I guess I'll just have to bookmark the page. I really love this song. When the cd is out let me know so that I can make that purchase!

The link at the bottom far left of Toonsmith's sig line takes you to a page where you can download the mp3.

Thanks hueseph.

I don't let people download from Soundclick because of thier stance on copyrights. Fact is, at one time I actually took all my songs off the site because of it. Well that and all the problems they were having. But they seemed to change thier copyright position so I moved back in. The price is right too. :D

May be awhile for this piece to be on a CD. Was planning not to put this on the first CD but the second. It just seems to fit better with the feeling of that second one. First I need to stop writing classical stuff and get back to playing and recording acoustic. ;)
