Howdy!

This may sound really stupid, but here it goes... I've got an acoustic electric guitar that busted a couple strings. I go out to the store and pick up a set...an electric set. Put em on and now it sounds more like a steel guitar. It sucks! Do I solve that by putting on a set of Acoustic strings? If so, what's a good standard to get?

Thanks!

Any of the phospher-bronze sets will work ok.Martin strings are nice.

You have got to put on some Acoustic stings right away.......
Those electric strings just cant to and acoustic guitar justice.
I would reccomed the ELIXER acoustic strings. They cost about 12-15 bucks a set but they will keep that new string tone and brighness for a couple of months unlike cheaper strings.
Also the MartinSP acoustic strings sound great too. The Elixers are easier on the fingers. Try em and you wont go back to settling for cheap strings again.

i agree with about the Elixer strings. have been using them for a while on my acoustic and recently bought them for my electrics. sound great and last a lot longer. i don't know how but carvin sells them for $9.99 per set which is the cheapest i've ever seen them.

I like the sound of electric strings on my accustic (Nickel Rockers 011). Sort of like wire on a trashcan, really nasty, like an old National Steel.

cool lol...:D

what kinda pickup do you use on your acoustic 64Firebird?

No pickup, just a cheap pawn shop guitar. I also like to use a chrome slide and metal finger picks, like banjo players use.

I was thinking it might sound kinda cool if I recorded it with one of those green harmonica mikes.
