Looking for a little feeback on a bluesy acoustic track.

This is a project I'm just finishing up...Any ideas or anything I really messed up, are well appreciated....

In my own defense:

He really wanted a live feel so the main acoustic track and main vocal track were done live on one mic. I had to forfeit a lot of control, but I think it sounds pretty good. (better than I thought it would anyway) The timing is a little off...he was happy with the take overall and didn't mind the timing so much.

Oh yeah it's only a clip because the song is 8 minutes long.
(2 minutes 1.87 megs)

Thanks!

first thought. It sounds honky.

WHen the full mix came in it was like WOW, nice! Hey, I like the beginning effect.

THe low end is very well controlled on this one. It sounds pleasing. THe mix sounds pleasing because its not hyped anywhere, and it has a very big low end.

I think it sounds very good.
Keep it up

thanks....actually there's a reason for the effect...My studio is in my apartment, which is right by the pool. We tracked it during the summer when kids are in the pool...somehow I forgot to close the window (yes very professional right??)....so on the intro, you can really hear kids yelling.

we were trying to think of ways to cover it up, and he was listening to an old led belly record (a song called in the pines, that nirvana covered on their unplugged) and then it came to me.

Thanks for listening!

Cool song!

This reminds me of something Chris Isaak would do... twangy, yet melodic.

Very nice! :)

Just heard one little blip at 1:25

An edit, perhaps?

Great work, though. I'd like to hear the whole song!

blip meaning an mp3 artifact I hope...It wasn't on the wavs...(I hope) the album is going to mastering on monday.

I think I'll check just to make sure :)

Man, I want to hear the rest of this! The song was just starting to kick into gear. :)

Maybe it's already been fixed - I didn't hear a blip.

Well, sheesh. I've not no criticism here. Great job, I think it sounds terrific.

I would really like to put the whole song up, but it's 8 minutes. It actually gets a lot better, with some "chickin' pickin' guitar" and some other cool stuff.

It's not my tune, but I'll see if he's okay with putting it up on mp3.com. I'll let you know.

Yeah that is...

Greetings,

That is pretty good.
At first the intro was kinda slow, and i thought, oh man...the whole song will be like that....then it came up and that just made it all work.

The only crit i have is i wanted wanted a bit louder guitar strumming. the drums kinda was lound and drowned it out on the beats,

cool song

I like it :) .... especially the intro was quite cool .. And I think it's an art to make something cool out of what first looked like a big mistake :)

Awaiting the rest of the track

thans everyone, I really appreciate it. w/ regards to the guitar, it's kinda something untouchable. The guitar and vocals are on the same track....(one mic) The good thing is that in the next vs a seperate guitar track comes in.

I guess I could bring the drums down in the beginning so they don't stick out so bad....what do you think?

hmmm I don't know... I am listening to it through really bad computer speakers so.... But I think the drums are ok... Usually through those speakers drums come through too loud and in this case they don't, so that would mean that they are either good, or too soft....
I don't know if this is a relevant answer though :)

I'm going to see if I can bring them down a little bit.

Anyway I talked to Jesse (the guy on it), and we're going to put it up on mp3.com tommorow, so I'll let you guys know when they approve it or whatever.

Why can't I download it? Else I have to stream it lo-fi and that sucks.... There's no download-link.....

it works for me in high-fi

and the song is very good. i'm not a country twang person, but when i put my radio on scan (which i do often) i stop on whatever sounds good. i'd stop for this.
