OK dudes and dudettes.

Is it necessary to run software and analyse room acoustics to improve
your acoustic treatment. Me thinks ..yes, but is it really accurate?

How the heck do read the FFT scope, and then make adjustments based
on a graph? e.g. if there is a dip say @80hz, use deep base traps? etc?

Does the graph results need to be flat, or some decrease in the HF?

Just trying to get ideas how to discern the graph and what to use for treatments.

Help appreciated, will post some tests in a bit.

If you have a dip at 80hz why would you need to trap?

The readings will only be good for the spot you place your reference mic.

I don't know thats why I'm asking? The plot (attached) is taken from the mix position. Would that be a null created by not a good monitoring position?

I assumed that with a null (@80hz), I would need to install more bass traps to
lessen or smooth out the null. Do I have the wrong idea?

Thanks

Tonio, as I understand, bass trapping will indeed help you reduce the dip at 80 Hz you are experiencing. The null is caused by reflections of the wave coming back from the walls and meeting with the original signal, thereby cancelling the frequency out. The trap will absorb the waves and prevent these naughty reflections, thus eliminating (or at least improving) response at the null point.

Perceptes, that's what I thought too. I think c7sus is just trying to throw me for a loop:)
Eventhough the graph shows a null@ 80hz, I'm not really missing the bass
volume when mixing, though it may be alittle muddy. I think I need to tender to the 250 hz area more, see the drastic changes there?
I just finished redo-ing the HF absorbers I had(lower half of the front wall)to a mid/high trap-in eccense I took off the fabric, and sealed it with 1/4" ply.
It really cleaned up around 4k!! How odd is that? Gigured it would do more in the 250 hz-nope. It resulted in a better image and cleaner/detailed HF.
I use Event PS=8's so the mids are kinda funky.

BTW did you get a hold of CWCI? any 705frk?

I called them a couple of days ago and got an answering machine. They never called me back. :( I even emailed them and they didn't email back. I'll have to try again. Did you get supplies from them yourself?

Yeah CWCI in Miramar right? I bought from them 2 times, the most current was earlier this year. I'll try in a bit.
