In the swamps of Jersey
I must be one of the last to get my mics from the group buy. They came the day after Christmas. I was able to burn in the tubes and do a quick check but not much else. My question is with a SPL of 135 has anyone tried these on either snare drum or toms? I heard they are nice as overheads. Any thoughts or samples.
Thanks and Happy New Year.

I tried them out briefly on acoustic guitar (like you I got mine late). Mic -> RNP -> Lynx Aurora 8 -> Sonar -> NHTPro A10s.

I thought they sounded pretty decent. Did a very brief comparison with a Neumann KM84i and an a Gefell MT711s. Much hotter than both of those mics. Having a pad available wouldn't be a bad idea. Kind of a strong fundamental tone, but didn't quite have the overall warmth and presence of those two mics, especially the Neumann. But of course those mics cost more than 10X as much. All in all, a very nice mic. I don't know if I would use them for snare or toms though. I kind of like dynamics for that. I think you will certainly want to pad them if you do though. They are pretty hot. I want to compare it to my GT AM40/GT44 as they are kind of in the same ball park.
