The new Acid Pro software easily constructs loops and does multi-track recording and mixing. With that being the case, why would anyone need another program like Vegas, Sonar, Cubase, etc., to do the whole recording project for just audio?

While ACID will mix unlimited tracks, it can only record a stereo pair at a time. If you need support for a sound card that has more than two mono inputs you'll need Vegas or another true multitracker like Cubase/Nuendo/Sonar/n-track etc.
