Hi People,

Any body know where I can get some free Accompaniment Software downloads?

I' ve come accross Band In A Box, Jammer and Microphone modeler somewhere inthe threads and interested in acquiring them.

Any one have some info on them and how they work or how suitable they are?

Cheers,
James

Uh, none of those are free...

I use Band In A Box and I think it's a great tool for practicing and learning. With some tweaking sometimes some of the parts are suitable for more than that...

I second Band in a Box - although I've never used any others, I'm happy with it. I also tweak it to create drum tracks.
I've got the old 16 bit version, too. Been using it since Windows 3.1.....only 2 floppies !

I use both Band in a Box & Jammer - BIAB is easier to use but Jammer can get some very cool grooves going in you learn how to use it.

Although both programs have the most value as a learning tool - since you can program almost any chord progression in any key in any style, they can also be very good writing tools.

I work with a song writer who useing a little Casio keyboard and BIAB to create songs. He puts the MIDI data on a disk and brings it to my studio. I transfer the MIDI tracks to Cakewalk and feed it to my modules (much better sounds than his Casio). I may add a guitar part or two into Cakewalk and then we record the vocals (useing hired singers). We do a mixdown, burn a CD and send it to our publisher.

Not only have we been published, useing BIAB, but we've actually placed a song in a film, with some of the actual BIAB parts still in place.

I often use BIAB or Jammer to prepare a basic song structure and then loop it while I work out guitar , keyboard or vocal parts. I then dump the MIDI parts into Cakewalk and us the MIDI parts as my "demo band". I may often replace all the parts (or maybe just some of the parts) - it is a great way to have a band around when you want to jam, write or record.
