a simpler question about Absorbtion vs diffusion

My last post was way more complicated than it needed to be.

Where should diffusers be used. I have three sections to my single room studio. My monitoring area, tracking area (for things like drums) and a quasi vocal booth made from heavy blankets. Im guessing that diffusers would best in the tracking area but not the monitoring or vocal area where foam absorption would be better. Does this sound right?

How much diffusion vs absorption should be used in a tracking area?

Thanks again

I'm not an expert on the placement of your diffusers, etc., but I would definitely recommend taking the carpet off the walls. At most leave some of it on one or two walls, depending on how much foam and diffusers you're putting up. A room with carpet all over the walls makes your recordings sound like they were recorded in a room with carpet all over the walls. :D

Generally it is said to not use diffusion on the backwall of controllrooms when the distance from the mixposition to the backwall is less than about 3,5m.
When shorter there's no real development of a defuse soundfield.
I guess somehow the same applies for tracking rooms. When standing to close to the surface maybe comb filtering might be an issue!?
