I have a question... when building vocal booths, the main goal is to reduce echo and so that the walls absorb sound... right? Well, what exactly should I be trying to absorb in the vocals, as in, what frequencies... I believe that carpet absorbs just the highs and some mids, and there are other materials that absorb lows... so my question is for hip hop vocals what exactly am i trying to absorb? highs, mids, lows, or all?

Short answer...all.

Because whatever you don't absorb will still be around and, by comparison, amplified. Now unless you are me your voice does not have a ton of bass (mine does) but there are still bass noises in your booth. For example whatever you use for ventilation will have some slight rumble.

ok so basically i want to look for a material with all-round good absorption qualities at all freqs... gotcha...
