That motherboard - any reason for getting a micro ATX board?

Why not just get a P4P800? It won't cost much more, you get an Intel 865PE chipset instead of SiS, 5 pci slots instead of 3, upto 4 GB ram instead of 2GB, SATA support, RAID support etc.

Also the cpu, you should be able to get a 800MHz Prescott for not much more than that, better future proofing than the 533.

If you do get that board, maybe get some of the ram qualified by Asus for that board instead of the Crucial. Also check your Geforce card will work on that board

I never really thought to make sure my vcard would work, and yes I meant to put the non MX version. Heh, sorry about that. I edited my post.

As for the Ram, I will look into the brands listen on the site. Where do I go to find out if my vcard works with that mobo?

Ok, so I decided I would spend the extra 50 bucks to get the 2.8GHz P4 with Prescott core and 800MHz FSB Hooray for going back to broke haha!

If this a DAW only setup, I'd pass on the PNY videocard and get something from Matrox - either the G450 or a newer P650/750.

is it possible to use the M-Audio Delta 44 & SB Live! Sound Card at the same time, because when i tried installing the delta44 with my onboard soundcard it woudlnt work, you could install it and the onboard card would disable, take the delta out and the onboard would work.... how owuld i solve this?

Start your own thread instead of hijacking this one.

If you had done some kind of search, you would have found this question has come up many times before.

well, here's the thing. This isn't just my sound computer. My real job is a graphic designer so I still have to be able to run all of my graphic applications. On this computer I have two users setup. One is for recording and it has all of the programs for recording. Then there's the account I am on now and it has all my internet stuff and graphic applications. I am not going to ditch the PNY because I already have it. No use in spending money on something new when what I got works perfectly fine. Unless it would drastically improve performance. I don't think it would, but I could be wrong there, does anyone know?

As for the KPnutz guy, I don't know what you are having trouble with. I installed both of mine just fine (I rhymed). I have SBlive setup as my primary sound card so it is used for normal sound and then my Delta is setup to be used by all of my audio applications.

Thanks for all the input everyone!

Do your research - you can't beat Matrox cards when it comes to 2D performace. I had a Geforce MX440 card before the Matrox and the difference is like night and day.

nVidia's video quality and color representation is downright mediocre compared to Matrox. I am an industrial designer myself and spend alot of time in Photoshop.
