Barring any last-minute advice, I'm planning to buy the Soundblaster Live! soundcard for my new computer sometime in the next couple of days. I'd like to get something with multiple inputs, but everything else I've checked out is beyond my means at the moment.
Does anyone out there know of a soundcard that would:

a) allow me to record more than one track at a time;
b) work reasonably well for the purpose of gaming, and;
c) cost less than $200 Canadian (approx. $130 US)?

Any last-minute advice would be appreciated.

p.s. - Many thanks to bobbo for directing me to N-track. It appears to be exactly what I was looking for.

First of all I've read some bad things about the Soundblaster Live. Since you're using n-Track, go to www.fasoft.com and look into SB Live issues. It might be a good card but I'm sure you'd like to avoid suprises.

Second, any soundcard can record more than one track at a time....that is, two. Stereo my friend. Pan one instrument left and the other right via your mixer and use a stereo output on your mixer into the PC. Then tell n-Track to record in stereo. When you're finished you can break the stereo track into two mono tracks...and then you can even break the two new mono tracks into individual stereo tracks.

Many thanks Slackmaster. I hadn't thought of that.

This is why I love this group.
