About to pull the trigger on the Great River ME-1NV- as my gold channel- anybody have any words of caution, anything negative to say about it? Also any picks on where to purchase it? Thanks for the help on what for me is a big purchase.

DO IT!!

Anywhere you buy is just as good as anyplace else, I think. I guess Mercenary might be the best place (though I'm not a big fan of Fletcher) because they double the warranty.
 
How to rack?

Any thoughts on how to do this more elegantly then double sided tape on a rack tray? Thanks again-

I think you can use a universal rack tray with a screw. I don't think you should have to tape it. I could be wrong about that though.
 
Call Mercenary, but I am pretty sure that you can buy a rack mount kit fot the Me-1NV since it is only a half rack space unit.

Duct tape, dude! It holds the universe together :)
 
Another yes vote for the GR. Don't hesitate unless you play some kind of odd musical genre that would not respond well to this type of preamp. I would also call Mercenary and ask about the rack "ear" set. Basically two very heavy duty L-shaped pieces of thick metal that mount to the side of the unit. My only regret in buying the ME1NV: I should have bought two (or at least the 2 channel box!)
 
The rack mounts for the ME-1NV will run $60 (at Mercenary). It's an awesome unit.
 
The GR is a great box. If you could spend a few hundred more I would recommend a Neve 5012. But you can't go wrong with the GR.
