This is a frequent problem of mine..

When I play, especially palm muting, distorts, no matter what I do..

I wouldn't wanna shunt everything under 600hz from guits...

here is what it sounds like:

there is also the curves from Beatcraft.. mp3, but the wav looks the same..

I've EQ:ed , compressed... whatnot.. :(

Ou yeah the original wavs from mr8hd are fine..

btw..attachment size limit here blows... I'm dying of frustration...

sounds awsome, Ummm.. in all honesty, I'm not getting any clipping. but than again I don't have the volume turend up too loud. was there clipping before you did any editing?

you have some awesome riffs in your fingers jouni.
i think i can hear what you're talking about. i don't know. doesn't sound like distortion though, sounds like clipping. sounds like somewhere in the chain from your hands to my ears a machine is forced above 0 dB.

stupid suggestion : aren't you just recording too loud? i suppose you record in 24 bit so you can easily record as low as -10 dB. the clipping could be the transients of your attack. try a limiter?

umm... I'm on headsets.., but I've tried two different sets, and distorting/clipping is still clearly audible on both sets..
clearest on the first couple of palm-mutes at the start.. kind of a sizzling high-pitch sound, repeats after that here and there..

It couldn't be my soundcard...? ears?

btw.. noticed that default on Goldwave is 16-bit wavs..

I mean that audioclip is flattened and stepped on compared the originals... I think clipping presedented itself while adding and panning tracks into a mix..

check your limiters/compressors!

I use non on the intake...?
only on mixing, only limiter is on mr8hd, and I checked that the led wasn't blinking whilr tracking.. and the raw tracks aren't clipping...?

could be...

Poured holywater on my laptop and mixed the thing from scratch again.
Now a bit less clipping, which I camouflaged with drums, non audible to me now. :) :)
..the compression made the rhythmguitars a bit way..or twangy.. or something, but close enough..

Lacking bass, since both are at rehealsalplaces...

THANKS!! very much for ya all!!
