Sheesh, i have had my Q10 for lets see..over a month now, I got it the day after thanksgiving. Has never worked. But, i don't blame that on Aardvark...becuase I used it on 2 VIA machines. However, within the next couple of days, my new Athlon XP with a 760 chipset Motherboard is coming in...and if it still won't work, then it's going to be getting old.

Basically just wondering about the progress of the Win2k drivers. heard a lot of people saying Beta 5 wouldn't work for them? I installed Beta 5 tonight on my VIA system...and it wouldn't install...Beta 4 would (still didn't work right though).

Anyways, I love the card..but..I thought the Aardvark guy said the Win2k drivers would be official by like last week? I remember 2 years ago waiting for Pinnacle to finish Win2k drivers for their video captures cards, at least they had a good excuse with new technology <sigh>.

One question about the Aark in general...the times I have been able to mess with it, I notice it has like "Aardvark 1,2" "Aardvark 3,4" etc. in the devices....where you choose what to record/playback from. Which one do you use? Do you have to select 1,2 if you are recording from those chans or something. nah...that wouldn't be right...becuase what if you wanted to record from all 8 inputs? I don't see in the manual what the 1,2 3,4 5,6 7,8 is in the recording/playback devices..anyone know. sorry this was so long, later

If it's not too late send the Aardvark back, send it back.

They are great guys, their products are great.

But their driver support is among the worst I've seen. Totally mixed up priorities....

They do have a spiffy new website though... See where I'm going with this.

It sucks when the only way to get a great company like that back on track is to buy elsewhere.

I hope they can get their groove back on, because they've always been pleasant to deal with.

I doubt it's the Via chipset at this point. Could be wrong though.

Jwt - i see what you are saying...but I don't agree. The Aardvark guy posts in here from time to time and seems very nice...and everytime I have talked to Aardvark support they are excellent in terms of getting in touch with them, getting good advice and such.

I think as long as the win2k drivers are final this month...then they will be set..which, they definately should be. The product is awesome on win98. <sigh>

So Im Not The Only One?

The more i read your probs the more upset i get with these guys.
They cannot expect people to use 4 year old OS's just to use their products?
They are pleasant but that means nothing if we arent getting what we expect.
We have all spent a load of money on their products which was a risk considering the reletive new company they are.
If they want to save their company they should fire all their "programmers" and replace them with programmers cos i am about to campaign on a massive newsgroup "stay away from aardvark" messeges to all these people asking for sound card advice.
Their Betas dont even work and their drivers release times are all lies.

my guess is that the move toward WDM and away from Windows 98/ME in computer music caught them by surprise or something...i've got a direct pro and it works fine with Windows ME and ASIO applications. it now also has direct sound support , if you're into Fruity Loops.

I'm wanting to use my Q10 with Sonar XL, but I've been frustrated by the driver situation, too. I really need to see the WDM driver for the Q10, as it'll let me play software synths from my Roland XP30's keyboard. The beta has also frustrated me by pairing my inputs (i.e., there's 1/2, but no distinct 1 and 2), and by behaving in a glitchy way that can cause Sonar to shut down abruptly. I also am not able to add effects to my 44.1/24 audio, which I believe is a driver issue. And beta 5 doesn't support 24/96! What's up with that?

I'm starting to wonder whether dropping $750 on this thing was a wise choice...

It wasn't...

Q-10 woes

i've got win XP and it won't even show the sound card installed. I did all ark said to do. moved it around. went into some other places, but nothing doin'. I talked to eric at ark and he said for sure, they'll be coming out with the new drivers this month. he said they had the driver problems solved and all they needed to do was "put it all back together now". I've heard this before and this is the last straw I'm buying into becasue I've owned this thing since october and hav'ent been able to use it at all. I've already lost it several times over. This is the last time I'm gonna loose it. After this. I'm gonna get win 98 and damn it! It better work or I'm calling some government agency in on this.
I had an invention co. rip me yrs ago and the gov. came in on it and all the people that got ripped got some compensation checks after they sued the company. Yeah, i'm really ticked becasue they always have some kind of way of running me around instead of simply walking me thru the process with some support. And I don't like it when they can't simply take a few minutes to go thru your computer with you to see what's wrong
